Amiodarone 100mg and 200mg tablets are in limited supply until the week commencing 17 November 2025. Amiodarone suspension remains available (specials), and unlicensed imports of amiodarone of 100mg and 200mg tablets have been sourced (lead times vary).

Medicine supply notification: Antimicrobial agents used in tuberculosis (TB) treatment

Following the national patient safety alert issued on 29 July 2025, the supply situation for antimicrobial medicines used to treat tuberculosis has significantly improved, and updated information in this medicines supply notification supersedes the alert.

Medicine supply notification: Mometasone (Asmanex Twisthaler®) 200micrograms/dose dry powder and 400micrograms/dose dry powder inhalers

Mometasone (Asmanex Twisthaler®) dry powder inhalers are being discontinued (200 microgram per dose, 60 dose from Oct 2025; 200 microgram per dose 60 dose and 400 microgram per dose 30 and 60 dose from Feb 2026). Alternative corticosteroid inhalers are can bridge supply gap.

SSPs for cefalexin oral suspensions sugar free further extended

SSPs for cefalexin 125mg/5ml oral suspension sugar free (SSP077) and cefalexin 250mg/5ml oral suspension sugar free (SSP078) were due to expire on 24 October 2025 but they have now been further extended to Friday 28 November 2025.

Medicine supply notification: Admelog® (insulin lispro)

Admelog® (insulin lispro) 100 units/ml solution for injection cartridges, pre-filled pens and vials are being discontinued with supplies anticipated to be exhausted by mid-March 2026, late March 2026 and mid-June 2026, respectively. Humalog® products can support increased demand.

Admelog®(インスリンリスプロ)は、注射カートリッジ、プレフィルドペン、バイアル用の100ユニット/ml溶液を製造中止しており、それぞれ2026年3月中旬、2026年3月下旬、2026年6月中旬までに供給がなくなる見込みです。Humalog®製品は、需要の増加に対応できます。

注：Admelogは、サノフィのバイオシミラー製剤。日本でも上市されている。

Shortage of antimicrobial agents used in Tuberculosis (TB) treatment

The following antimicrobial medicines used to treat tuberculosis (TB) will be intermittently available until at least the end of 2025:

Rifampicin 150mg and 300mg capsules
Rifampicin 600mg IV solution for infusion
Rifampicin 100mg/5ml oral suspension
Rifinah® 300 tablets (rifampicin 300mg / isoniazid 150mg)
Rifater® tablets (rifampicin 120mg / isoniazid 50mg/ pyrazinamide 300mg)
Voractiv® tablets (rifampicin 150mg/ isoniazid 75mg / pyrazinamide 400mg / ethambutol 275mg)
Pyrazinamide 500mg tablets

Ethambutol tablets, Isoniazid tablets, and Rifinah® 150 tablets (rifampicin 150 mg / isoniazid 100 mg) and Mycobutin® (rifabutin) 150mg capsules remain available but cannot support a full increase in demand.

Serious shortage protocol (SSP083) for venlafaxine 37.5mg modified-release tablets issued

In response to significant ongoing disruption to the supply of venlafaxine 37.5mg modified-release tablets, an SSP has been issued that allows for venlafaxine 37.5mg modified-release capsules to be provided in place of the modified release tablets. SSP expiry date 01 August 2025.

Medicine supply notification: Levemir® (insulin detemir) FlexPen® 100units/ml solution for injection 3ml pre-filled pens and Levemir® Penfill 100units/ml solution for injection 3ml cartridges

Levemir FlexPen and Penfills are being discontinued; stock is anticipated to be exhausted by the end of 2026. Clinical advice on the discontinuation of all Levemir presentations is being produced and will follow in the coming months.

Serious shortage protocols for Estradot® patches (SSP080 and SSP081) extended

The Department of Health and Social Care has extended the SSPs for Estradot 75micrograms/24hours patches (SSP080) and Estradot 100micrograms/24hours patches (SSP081) to Friday 6 June 2025.
